“I believe affordable, clean transportation should be the norm, not the exception. You shouldn’t have to choose between a car you can afford and a car that’s electric. We can do better.” - Storm Sondors
At SONDORS Electric Car Company, our goal is simple.
Electric for everyone.
Demand for electric vehicles is increasing worldwide, and improvements in technology have made the components necessary for producing electric vehicles more accessible and less expensive. Yet today a new electric car can cost you anywhere from $30,000 to hundreds of thousands of dollars, making it impractical for most people.
To change how the world moves, there needs to be an affordable option.
We believe SONDORS Electric Car Company can provide that option and has an incredible opportunity to change the world in a meaningful way.
In 2017 SONDORS Electric Car Company raised just over $1 million through equity crowdfunding to build a concept prototype. Less than a year later, the Model SONDORS is a reality.
Once we reach the production phase, this innovative three-seat, three-wheel, all-electric vehicle is anticipated to start at just $10,000.
By offering an attractive, high quality, electric car at an affordable price, our hope is that SONDORS Electric Car Company is a game-changer in the world of electric transportation.

“Inventing something new isn’t the hard part. Applying that invention in a meaningful way is. What gets me excited is the opportunity to produce this on a scale that really makes a difference.” - Storm Sondors
Most cars on the road today are over-engineered and have features that no one needs, wants, or uses. Storm focused on simplicity when designing the Model SONDORS. The result is a work of art that has everything you need to enjoy your ride - nothing more, nothing less.
Another barrier to affordability is how cars are initially designed. Many concept cars are created without ever considering how the car is actually going to be made leaving car companies with the question, “Now how are we going to actually build this?”
But Storm approaches things differently. When he was designing and building Model SONDORS he constantly thought ahead and made choices with production in mind. And while we anticipate that some features may change as we refine the design, we have reduced the steps (and the cost) it takes to become production ready because of Storm’s foresight.
We believe the same principles Storm used to revolutionize the electric bike industry can be applied to the automotive industry and ultimately change the way cars are purchased, manufactured, and delivered.
Rather than building and operating our own facilities, we plan to select manufacturing partners that are set up for scale, speed, and efficiency.
Additionally we intend to design, develop, and source materials and components from some of the best manufacturers around the globe. This will allow us to not only have access to proven technologies but we will also be able to pass on supply chain warranties to the end consumer.
Our intent is to sell Model SONDORS primarily online and allow customers to choose specific options for their vehicles at the point-of-sale. Customers will then be able to select from a list of add-ons to customize their vehicles, and ultimately have the vehicle delivered directly to their home.
By selling directly to consumers we can bypass the traditional independent dealer system, and lower the retail price of our vehicles.
Research shows demand for electric cars is on the rise and will represent 22% of the market by 2025 (Goldman Sachs) and 35% of the global car sales by 2045 (Bloomberg New Energy).
Countries like China, India, France, Britain, and Norway are working on banning the making and selling of gas-powered cars. And according to CNN Money at least eight other countries have electric sales targets in place.
In U.S. markets, The Wall Street Journal predicts electric cars will outsell gas powered cars within the decade.
Boosting this trend is the falling price of batteries - one of the most expensive components of an electric car.
Our three wheel vehicle design also allows us to seek designation as an autocycle. This means there is less regulatory red tape to get through - both in the United States and in many other countries around the world. This will help us go to market quickly and globally. Autocycles have a big draw, and many companies, including large corporations like Toyota, have added three wheelers to their inventory.
While we feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment, we can’t stop here. Completing Model SONDORS is just the beginning, and we have several steps to go before we are ready to realize our dream of making electric transportation available to the masses.
In the next 60 days, we're raising $2 million to complete a production ready Model SONDORS. We'll then work to raise the additional funds necessary for production tooling and testing.
Having bypassed investment in a cumbersome manufacturing infrastructure, once engineering and tooling is complete, we believe we will be positioned to begin assembling vehicles as early as April 2019.
This last year has been an incredible experience.
Together, we took a big idea and turned it into a reality. But we’re not done yet. The prototype is just the beginning. I want to see the whole world embrace electric vehicles. Wouldn’t it be nice to see SONDORS smiles on the road?
Together, we can change the way the world moves. Electric for everyone.
All the best,
Storm Sondors
What are the benefits of a three wheeled design?
The Model SONDORS was designed with three wheels and a low center of gravity to offer great stability and handling dynamics while also reducing drivetrain complexity. This design also allows for reduced weight and lower drag coefficient, resulting in more efficient power utilization and performance.
What can you tell me about your design choices for the exterior?
Our choice for the exterior has been inspired by Storm’s lifelong passion for Gran Turismo, but with a modern edge. The Model SONDORS will undoubtedly make a powerful statement for the future of electric car design, with its striking front and profile view and impeccable integration of the 3rd wheel — it’s a guaranteed headturner. It’s what we expected from working with Italian designers, and what you’d expect from SONDORS.
Italy is the birthplace of the Ferrari, the Lamborghini, and the Maserati - some of the most timeless and beautiful cars the world has ever seen.
What can you tell me about the interior?
The interior is designed to feel large and open, seating three adult-sized passengers. It’s simple and clean, yet intelligent and innovative. We’ve cut out the unnecessary bulkiness of today’s standard car interior, while enhancing passenger comfort and an exhilarating driver experience. The entire layout has been designed with purpose -focusing on meeting the practical needs and conveniences of modern-day transportation.
What specs are you planning for the production vehicle?
In addition to the items in the facts above, our plan for the production model is to include the same standard comfort and functional features customers have come to expect in modern motor vehicles: air conditioning, heat, AM/FM stereo, power windows, power door locks, airbags, auxiliary port(s), anti-lock brakes, and traction control. We intend to offer five color options and additional optional luxury features such as leather seats and upgraded battery options for further range.
What safety features will the production vehicle have?
The Model SONDORS will be designed for a fun and exhilarating ride, but not at the expense of safety. Our intent is to meet and exceed automotive safety standards. We are working to take into account the probability of injury from front, side, rear and rollover accidents. In addition, the vehicles very low center of gravity simultaneously ensures exceptional handling and safety. A few of our safety features include a passenger safety cell, safety belts, air bags, anti-lock brakes, and traction stability control.
How far will the production vehicle go on a single charge?
We currently plan to offer battery options for our production car with the following ranges: 75, 150, and 200 miles. As with all electric vehicles, speed, topography, load, and accessories can significantly affect the estimated range.
Are you taking any deposits for the vehicle?
No, we are not currently taking any deposits.
When will I be able to buy one?
We have no plans to take any pre-sales until our vehicle is ready for production.
