Pokemon: The 15 Strongest Electric Type Moves (2023)

Electric-Type Pokémon are very powerful and their moves are no exception. Although most Electric moves are quite strong, there are some that are just ridiculously powerful. Everyone knows at least a few of these moves because of Pokémon's electrifying mascot, Pikachu.

This list will give fans of the series a look at some of the strongest Electric-Type moves in the Pokémon world and help show fans how strong electricity can really be. From powerful bites infused with electricity to massive bolts of lightning, here are 15 of the strongest Electric-Type moves that will one-shot any Water-Type!

Updated March 2, 2021 by Thomas Bowen:Sometimes, the strength of a move can be measured not only through its raw power stats, but also the effects and bonuses that using it can yield. With a good enough understanding of the battle mechanics and the knowledge of when and how these attacks are best used, it's possible to wipe the floor with your foes in a satisfyingand efficient manner. What's more, you can do so without having to rely on the same old moves time and time again.

15 Charge Beam

Pokemon: The 15 Strongest Electric Type Moves (1)

While there are plenty of moves that can raise the user's special attack stat, there aren't too many that can simultaneously deal damage while as they charge. Its 50 attack power may not be great when compared to some of the more powerful electric-type moves, but the provided by Charge Beam can add up surprisingly quickly.

The move was first introduced to the series in the gen 4 games and has been retroactively added to the learnsets of numerous Pokemon since. It can also be taught using TM57, with more than 100 different Pokemon capable of learning the move this way.

14 Thunderbolt

Pokemon: The 15 Strongest Electric Type Moves (2)

Although not quite as powerful as it once was, Thunderbolt remains one of the strongest electric-type moves in the series with an attack power of 90 and a 10% chance of paralyzing the target. Prior to gen 7 however, the move had 95 power and was also able to paralyze other electric-type Pokemon, thus making it a lot more deadly.

There are 18 Pokemon that can learn the move naturally by leveling up with significantly more able to add the attack to their movesets through the use of TR08. It's most deadly in the hands ofa cap wearing Pikachu that's holding Pikashunium Z though, as they're able to use the upgraded form10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. The powered up versionhas a monstrous 195 power as well as a high chance of landing a critical hit.

13 Electro Ball

Pokemon: The 15 Strongest Electric Type Moves (3)
(Video) Top 15 Strongest Electric Pokemon || Top 15 Most Powerful Electric Type Pokemon Of All Time ||

First appearing in the anime, Charge Ball has the potential to be one of the most powerful electric-type moves in the game, although there's something of a catch. Exactly how much damage the move does depends on how much faster the user is than the target Pokemon.

In order to hit with the equivalentof 150 power, the target's speed will need to be below 25% of the user's. This may seem like a big difference, but electric-type Pokemon are typically very speedy anda lotof the tankier Pokemon tend to be incredibly slow. As a result, this difference is achieveda lot more often than you might think.

12 Plasma Fists

Not only does Plasma Fists boast 100 power and 100% accuracy, but it also has a rather handy effect that can really help to turn the tide in battle. Once used, all normal-type moves will be changed to electric-type, therefore allowing the user to utilize moves like Hyper Beam and Giga Impact to devastating effect.

Sadly, there's only one Pokemon that's able to use the move at present; that being the gen 7 mythical Pokemon Zeraora. That said, with base stats totaling 600, high speed and decent physical and special attack stats, there really aren't too many better pure electric-type Pokemon worthy of a spot in the party anyway.

11 VoltSwitch

Pokemon: The 15 Strongest Electric Type Moves (5)

While the 70 attack power of Volt Switch may be a little underwhelming at first glance, it more than makes up for this with its useful effect. As the name of the move might suggest, using the attack allows players to switch out their Pokemon immediately after dealing damage which can be incredibly useful in certain situations.

As well as being able to counter a rival switching Pokemon, the move can also be used to escape from the likes of Arena Trap, Magnet Pull and Spider Web.Itonly has nine native users at present, although more than 50 are capable of learning it with the aid ofTM80.

10 Buzzy Buzz

Pokemon: The 15 Strongest Electric Type Moves (6)

Buzzy Buzz can only be used by Eevee in Pokémon Let's Go Eevee. The move inflicts 90 damage onto the enemy and it has a 100% accuracy rate which makes for an incredibly strong move. This is quite the toughie move for a cutie of a Pokémon!

Buzzy Buzz also paralyzes the enemy Pokémon hit. Because it can only be learned by Eevee it isn't the strongest Electric-Type move in the Pokémon world, however, it definitely makes the top 10 because of the power it inflicts and the fact that it paralyzes the enemy.

9 Parabolic Charge

Pokemon: The 15 Strongest Electric Type Moves (7)

The parabolic charge is very strong because it absorbs 50% of the damage dealt to the enemy hit and gives it to the Pokémon that used the move. There are few electric type moves that absorb HP for the user which makes this a move that any Electric-Type pokemon should learn if they get the chance.

Parabolic Charge attacks everything around the Pokémon that uses the move. The one downside to this move is that it only inflicts 65 damage to the Pokémon hit however it makes up for this by having a 100% accuracy rating. Absorbing health always makes for a powerful move and Parabolic Charge is no exception!

8 Thunder Fang

Thunder Fang is an electrifying bite that any electric canine will want in their arsenal. It has an accuracy rating of 95% and if it hits the opponent Pokémon it inflicts 65 damage. The move starts at 15pp and can be improved up to a maximum of 24pp.

Thunder Fang was introduced in Gen IV. It has a 10% chance to paralyze the enemy pokemon hit by the bite. Electric-Type Pokémon with large teeth should try to learn this powerful move and luckily a large amount of Electric-Type Pokémon are able to use it.

Volt tackle is one of the Strongest electric type moves in the Pokémon world. The Pokémon using this move rushes and tackles the enemy while covered in electricity. It does 120 damage with a 100% accuracy rating. This move has 15pp up to a maximum of 24pp, which means it can be used many times in a single battle. This is one electrifying attack!

The amount of pp that Volt Tackle has combined the amount of damage it deals makes for an incredible physical Electric-Type move that only the Strongest Pokémonwill get the chance to learn!

6 Wild Charge

Pokemon: The 15 Strongest Electric Type Moves (10)

Wild Charge is a physical Electric-Type move that deals 90 damage on the enemy pokemon hit by it. It always has a 100% chance of hitting its target and it was introduced in Gen V. The base pp for this move 15 and it can be increased to 24.

The Pokémon using Wild Charge surrounds its body with static and it throws itself at its opponent to inflict damage. Because of this attack's interesting appearance when used and its high damage and perfect accuracy, it deserves a spot on this list. This is one wild move for an Electric-Type Pokémon!

5 Zing Zap

Pokemon: The 15 Strongest Electric Type Moves (11)

Zing Zap may have one of the best names of any Electric-Type move in the series! This move deals 80 damage and it has a 100% hit chance. Introduced in gen VII, this attack has a base pp of 10 which can be increased to a maximum of 16. What makes this attack so powerful is that it has a chance to make the Pokémon hit by it flinch.

Zing Zap is a move that is quite strong because of its chance to make the enemy flinch and its 100% hit chance. There are few Electric-Type moves that are as unique and powerful as this one which earns it a spot high on this list.

4 Fusion Bolt

Fusion Bolt does 100 damage but its power can be doubled if the move Fusion Flare is used during the previous turn. This move was introduced in Gen V and it has a 100% accuracy rating. It has a 5pp with a maximum of 8pp and the low amount of times that the user can use it is one of the only downsides of this move.

Fusion Bolt is a powerful move especially if Fusion Flare is also used in the same battle. There aren't many Pokémon moves that are as strong or have as unique of an effect as Fusion Bolt which makes this Electric-Type attack a prime candidate for a top spot on this list.

3 Bolt Strike

Pokemon: The 15 Strongest Electric Type Moves (13)

Bolt strike is an electric type move introduced in Gen V. It deals 130 damage to the user hit and it has an accuracy rate of 85%. One downside it has is that it only has 5pp with a maximum of 8pp.

Bolt strike is especially powerful because it gives thePokémon hit by it a 20% of being paralyzed. The Pokémon that is using this move covers themselves with large amounts of electricity and charges their opponent. Any Water or Flying-Type should be wary of this powerful Electric-Type attack!

2 Thunder

Pokemon: The 15 Strongest Electric Type Moves (14)

Thunder was introduced all the way back in Gen I at the very beginning of Pokémon. Its accuracy rating is 70% and it deals 110 damage to the pokemon hit by it. It has a base 10pp and it can be upgraded to 16pp max. This powerful Electric-Type move has a whopping 30% chance of paralyzing the Pokémon hit by it.

The powerful move Thunder is known in the Pokémon world as an incredibly strong lightning attack that cannot be rivaled by many other Electric-Type attacks which makes it a prime candidate for this list.

1 Catastropika

Pokemon: The 15 Strongest Electric Type Moves (15)
(Video) Strongest Electric-Type⚡Move From Each Region | Part 01 | In Hindi | Top 10 Electric-Type Moves |

Catastropika is a Z-move that can only be used by the furry little mascot of the series. When Pikachu uses Volt Tackle as a Z-move it is converted to Catastropika. This move does a whopping 210 points of damage! There are very few moves that rival this one in terms of damage.

The only downside to this move is that only Pikachu can use it however Pikachu is an extremely common Pokémon so everyone should be able to catch one for themselves. This move is so powerful because of the amount of damage it does which earns it the highest spot on this list. Pika-Pika!
